Transfer Talk: Manchester United to make third attempt at Aaron Ramsey

The transfer window for all of Europe's big five leagues is closed, but that doesn't stop Transfer Talk from rummaging around about who will be moving where come January.

United to make third move for Ramsey

Manchester United hope to make their third pursuit for Aaron Ramsey a lucky one as the Arsenal midfielder's contract winds down. Talks have broken down between the Gunners and the Wales international, who can walk away from the Emirates next summer for nothing.

After failing to land Ramsey from Cardiff in 2008, United also made an enquiry last summer, report the Mirror, but Unai Emery insisted on assessing his squad before sanctioning any sales.

Now though, Jose Mourinho will push United to land the 27-year-old next summer, whilst Liverpool also hold an interest given the uncertainty surrounding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's return from injury.

De Gea option set to be triggered

Manchester United are ready to trigger a one-year option on David De Gea's contract with the Spaniard failing to accept fresh terms.

The goalkeeper has less than a year left on his contract, but United can extend it by a further 12 months. And while they could do so next summer, the Sun believe they will do it in January if De Gea does not accept their £375,000 per week deal, alerting rivals to prepare summer moves.

The wage offer would leave the 27-year-old only behind Alexis Sanchez in the top earners at Old Trafford. Should United activate the option on De Gea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain will test United's resolve in the summer.

With the risk of De Gea walking away for nothing in 2020, United would find themselves in a similar position to Chelsea with Thibaut Courtois last summer, with the Blues eventually selling to Real Madrid for £30.8 million (€35m).

Arsenal line up Sarr and Havertz

While Ramsey may leave in the near future, Arsenal are already planning to reshape their squad with Ismaila Sarr and Kai Havertz on their list of targets.

The Mirror claim Sven Mislintat has identified the Rennes and Bayer Leverkusen starlets to boost the Gunners' squad.

Barcelona are also interested in Sarr, 20, with the Senegalese already chipping in with three goals and an assist this term. Havertz is seen as one of the most exciting talents in Germany, and the 19-year-old is already proving to be a key player for Leverkusen, with four goals and three assists already this season.

Tap-ins

- Borussia Dortmund are looking to raid Manchester City again by prizing away Phil Foden, whilst RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen with the 18-year-old yet to agree a long-term deal with the Blues. The Mail claim the German club will look to convince the England youth international by pointing to the meteoric rise of Jadon Sancho, who made his debut for the Three Lions this week.

- Maurizio Sarri wants Genoa sensation Krzysztof Piatek in January to solve his striker dilemma after the 23-year-old's incredible start to the season. The Express claim Chelsea must pay £40m for the Poland international, who has scored 13 goals in eight games since joining from Cracovia in the summer. Competition will be fierce though, with Juventus, Napoli, Roma, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund all registering an interest.
