Transfer Rater: Dembele to Liverpool, Ter Stegen to Manchester United

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the Whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Elseid Hysaj to Manchester United

Manchester United are prepared to pay a club record fee for a defender by meeting Hysaj's £44 million release clause at Napoli. According to The Sun, United boss Jose Mourinho is determined to sign a right-back having used Antonio Valencia for much of this season, while Matteo Darmian is poised to sign for Juventus. Albania international Hysaj has emerged as one of the best right-backs in European football and, at 24, can offer United a long-term option in that position.

Alphonse Areola to Newcastle

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has been given the green light to spend this summer and has begun by contacting Paris Saint-Germain over the availability goalkeeper Areola. With PSG in the market for AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma, Areola may find opportunities limited at the Parc des Princes next season. France Football claim the 23-year-old, who has made 42 starts in 2017-18, is available for between €15m-€20m.

Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool

Antoine Griezmann's seemingly imminent arrival at the Camp Nou may leave Dembele surplus to requirements, with Barcelona now considering selling the 21-year-old. Barca paid Borussia Dortmund €145m last summer to sign Dembele as a long-term replacement for Neymar but his debut campaign for the Catalans has been blighted by injury and inconsistency. According to The Express, Liverpool were initially considering a loan swoop but have now been made aware they can buy Dembele outright.

David Ospina to Boca Juniors

Ospina has been linked with a move to Argentine giants Boca since his days in Colombia with Atletico Nacional and admits it would be hard to turn them down. Arsenal are expected to sign at least one goalkeeper this summer which will push the 29-year-old further down the pecking order at the Emirates while Boca have doubts over their own goalkeeper Agustin Rossi. Ospina last week told Antena: "I am enjoying life at Arsenal for the time being but Boca are one of the biggest clubs, not only in South America, but the world."

Marc-Andre ter Stegen to Manchester United

United may possess the best goalkeeper in the world in David De Gea but should they be forced into selling the Spaniard this summer, Barcelona stopper ter Stegen is their first choice as replacement. De Gea is a long-term target of Real Madrid with Paris Saint-Germain also retaining interest in the 27-year-old. Germany international ter Stegen, 26, would cost as much as £88m, a figure The Express claim United are willing to pay to minimise the impact of De Gea's potential departure.
