Transfer Rater: Harry Maguire to Manchester United, Wilfred Ndidi to Liverpool

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Ander Herrera to AC Milan

Manchester United's Herrera has emerged as a target for AC Milan. The Serie A side believe they can sign the midfielder for around £30 million, according to reports in Tuttosport. While United wanted more for the midfielder, his lack of playing time -- coupled with the fact his deal expires in the summer of 2019 -- puts them in a weak negotiating position and he will be allowed to leave Old Trafford if the club's valuation is met.

Max Meyer to Liverpool

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp didn't manage to convince Leon Goretzka to join him at Anfield but Schalke teammate Meyer is still a possibility, claim the Liverpool Echo. The German midfielder, a target for Arsenal, Tottenham and Barcelona, is out of contract in the summer and is yet to decide on where his next destination will be. Schalke CEO Christian Heidel recently said: "Max will be deciding shortly if he wants to stay at Schalke past the summer."

Harry Maguire to Manchester United

Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are set to go to war again, with Leicester City centre-back Maguire a target. The Daily Mail claim the Manchester neighbours are interested in signing the England international, with Mourinho after a first-choice defender while Guardiola wants to bolster his defensive options as Vincent Kompany cannot be relied upon anymore. Leicester are prepared to part with Maguire, but it would take £50m to convince them to do so.

Mateo Kovacic to Tottenham

Kovacic is agitating for a move away from Real Madrid as he searches for a club willing to give him regular first-team football. According to reports in AS, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Roma are all chasing the Croatian. Spurs are in need of midfielder reinforcements with Mousa Dembele missing much of the season through injury. But it's Roma who, reportedly, lead the race to sign Kovavic.

Wilfred Ndidi to Liverpool

Liverpool are lining up a £50m deal for Leicester City midfielder Ndidi according to the New Telegraph, a newspaper in the player's home country of Nigeria. The report goes on to suggest that Klopp admires the 21-year-old's physical approach to the game and wants to partner him with Naby Keita in a new look midfield.
