Perhaps it was mere coincidence, but suspicions were raised when Southampton travelled to Swansea on Tuesday for their crucial relegation face-off, only to find their prematch preparations had been derailed.
Saints manager Mark Hughes hinted there may have been "dark arts" at play as his side first had their hotel booking cancelled at short notice before being informed their police escort through the city rush hour had also been scotched.
However, Hughes' team defied the multiple setbacks to escape with a vital 1-0 win that will go a long way to securing his side's safety in the Premier League.

That didn't stop Southampton's social media team having a sly dig at their Welsh opponents the following morning, when a pithy Trip Advisor-style review for the Swansea Marriott Hotel was posted on their official Twitter account.
Thankfully, the experience didn't sour the Saints' "business trip" which actually turned out to be "extremely productive".
Excellent stuff.
