Liverpool's Adam Lallana follows through on pledge to have drink with fan

A lovely little story has emerged on social media that shows Adam Lallana to truly be one of football's nicest nice guys.

The Liverpool midfielder, who is currently out of action with a muscle injury, bumped into fan Ashwin Johri out in Cape Town and stopped to pose for a quick photo.

However, that wasn't the end of the story, not by a long chalk.

Indeed, Ashwin was fortunate enough to cross paths with Lallana again at a restaurant a few days later and this time the Reds star really went out of his way to make a lasting impression.

UPDATE: So after running into @officiallallana earlier this week, I ran into him again at breakfast the following morning. I hate approaching athletes during meals, so timed my move before his food arrived. I asked him if I could buy him a beer later during the day and he seemed rather forthcoming. Now, I'll be honest, I didn't expect him to come through. Obviously. We exchanged numbers and he asked me to get in touch once I returned from my day out. Fast forward to the evening, and I'm waiting at our hotel bar and he DOES turn up. We had a drink each and spoke for a good half hour. He even welcomed the idea of FaceTiming a friend of mine (@stewartscott) who's a massive #Liverpool fan. After that, he took his leave. (That's when this picture was clicked). As he was leaving, he said he'll get in touch AGAIN later that night. Of course, I thought he was simply being polite. But what do you know, we meet up again after dinner and this time it's with friends. The 10 of us hung out decently late into the night, talking football, travel, TV shows, a bit of politics, and your usual fluff. Adam is a class act. Not only is he very humble but also extremely attentive. By no means does he crave the spotlight and is happy to take the back seat and let others do the talking. Inviting a stranger to join him and his friends, after only spending a brief amount of time with them, tells you all you need to know about him. I wish him the speediest of recoveries and great success in all of his future endeavors. Hoping our paths cross again in the future sometime. . . . #Lallana #ThreeLions #LFC #CapeTown #ClassAct

"After running into Adam Lallana earlier this week, I ran into him again at breakfast the following morning," Ashwin recounted on Instagram.

He then asked Lallana if he could buy him a beer later that day -- an offer which was duly accepted.

"I didn't expect him to come through, obviously. We exchanged numbers and he asked me to get in touch once I returned from my day out," Ashwin continued.

"Fast forward to the evening, and I'm waiting at our hotel bar and he does turn up. We had a drink each and spoke for a good half hour."

The youngster added that Lallana then agreed to meet up later that same night to meet Ashwin's friends and, to his surprise, once again the Liverpool star followed through.

The group chatted about football, travel, television shows and politics until late into the evening.

"Adam is a class act," Ashwin concluded.

"Not only is he very humble but also extremely attentive. By no means does he crave the spotlight and is happy to take the back seat and let others do the talking."

How thoroughly, thoroughly nice.
