Victor Wanyama's fans take to streets as Tottenham midfielder plots comeback

Victor Wanyama's supporters are so eager to see the injured Kenyan return to the pitch, they took to the streets ahead of Tottenham's 5-1 win over Stoke on Saturday.

Members of the Tottenham fan club in Machakos -- a small town southwest of Kenya's capital Nairobi -- staged what one local news website described as a "peaceful procession" to wish Wanyama well.

Wanyama's supporters marched through the streets, clad in replica Spurs kits and t-shirts embossed with the image of the national team captain. They were carrying a big sign reading: "Wanyama, get well soon."

The 26-year-old has not played since the second games of the season in August due to a knee injury sustained in preseason but he has returned to individual training outdoors and is hopeful of being fit again soon.

The midfielder thanked his supporters on Instagram, posting images from the procession along with the message: "Thanks for the support Tottenham fan club in Kenya, I promise to come back better and stronger very soon."
