Shakhtar boss makes good on promise, comes as Zorro to news conference

Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca was thrilled following his team's 2-1 win over Manchester City that booked their passage to the round of 16 in the Champions League.

How thrilled you ask? Well not only did the Portuguese manager call it "the most joyful press conference of his career," he turned up to the postmatch meeting with journalists dressed as the swashbuckling fictional character Zorro to live up to a promise he made to his team if they topped Napoli and Feyenoord to advance.

Reflecting on his side's performance, he said: "Tonight we played an almost ideal game. We were very disciplined in defence and broke through to attack very effectively.

"It was very important to close up some particular zones for Manchester City where they are usually very dangerous. I think we did that well and they did not threaten as they normally would.

"I feel great joy. I think not only Shakhtar's supporters but all Ukrainians have to be proud of our team. Twelve points in such a group is fantastic.''
