Transfer Rater: Danilo to Manchester City, Nicolas Otmanedi to Real Madrid

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Danilo to Manchester City

The full-back positions were seen as areas of weakness within Manchester City's squad last season and they seem intent on rectifying the issue this summer. Having signed Kyle Walker, they are now being linked with a move for another right-back in Real Madrid substitute Danilo. According to The Guardian, a £26.5m bid has been agreed between the two clubs. Danilo will be expected not only to compete with Walker on the right flank, but provide cover on the left.

Patrick Roberts to Southampton

Celtic remain keen on bringing Roberts back to Parkhead, where he spent 18 months on loan, however the Scotsman have reported that the 20-year-old winger could instead join Southampton. While Pep Guardiola is keen to let Roberts prove himself during Manchester City's tour of America, Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino is also intent on adding the player to his ranks ahead of his debut season in charge.

Arturo Vidal to Inter Milan

Italian giants Inter Milan are said to have launched a bid for Vidal as they hope to bolster their midfield ahead of the coming season. Bayern Munich's Chilean star is well known in Serie A having made his name with Juventus, and he is widely regarded as one of the finest ball-winning midfielders in the world. The 30-year-old would add vital tenacity and drive to Luciano Spalletti's Inter side were he to join.

Nicolas Otamendi to Real Madrid

Following the departure of central defensive stalwart Pepe earlier this summer, Real Madrid are seeking an injection of aggression to their backline. Otamendi could be the player they choose to provide just that. The Argentine has never quite lived up to expectations at Manchester City, though his combative approach, rugged tackling and physicality could be perfect for filling the vacancy left by Pepe's exit in the Spanish champions' defence.

Ricardo Pereira to Tottenham

Portuguese right-back Pereira is believed to be Tottenham's first choice as they look to replace Walker. However, according to Sky Sports, Porto may not allow the player to leave unless his release clause of £22m is met. The 23-year-old is blessed with real pace, good dribbling and likes to charge forward, making him an ideal option for Mauricio Pochettino's squad should he join.
