Suarez reverses Barca's Anoeta curse to top Player Power Rankings

ESPN FC's global editorial desks nominate their top weekend performers. Luis Suarez led Barcelona to their first league win at Anoeta since 2007.

Why he's here: With Barca trailing 2-0 at Real Sociedad, Suarez sparked the Catalans' comeback by assisting on one goal and scoring two more in a 4-2 win on Sunday.

2. Lionel Messi | Barcelona

Why he's here: Messi netted a goal and an assist himself in Barca's win at Anoeta, breaking Gerd Muller's European record for most league goals with one club; it was the Argentine's 366th tally for the Catalan club in La Liga.

3. Mohamed Salah | Liverpool

Why he's here: Salah continued his torrid pace in the Premier League, scoring a goal and an assist -- his 18th and sixth, respectively, in 22 appearances -- as Liverpool ended Manchester City's unbeaten run with a 4-3 win at Anfield on Sunday.

7. Sergio Asenjo | Villarreal

Why he's here: The 28-year-old goalkeeper made seven saves as Real Madrid desperately and unsuccessfully tried to penetrate the Villarreal goal, with the Yellow Submarine earning a 1-0 win at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

8. Michael Olunga | Girona

Why he's here: Substitute Olunga was introduced at half-time, when Girona led Las Palmas 1-0; 45 minutes later, the 23-year-old had scored a hat trick and added an assist in a 6-0 win on Saturday.

9. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain | Liverpool

Why he's here: The former Arsenal midfielder scored a goal and added an assist in a commanding performance as Liverpool toppled Man City on Sunday.

10. Timo Werner | RB Leipzig

Why he's here: Werner scored the winner and assisted on the insurance goal as Leipzig leapfrogged Schalke for second in the Bundesliga following a 3-1 win at home against the Royal Blues.
