BARCELONA -- Marc-Andre ter Stegen has told ESPN FC that Barcelona will "measure themselves at the highest level" against Chelsea in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Barca have lost once in their last 38 games in all competitions and are seven points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga and into a fifth consecutive Copa del Rey final.
However, ter Stegen said the return of European football raises the stakes, with Barca motivated by the challenge of taking on Antonio Conte's side.
"The Champions League is always big and even more so when you play teams like Chelsea, the big teams, Paris [Saint-Germain], Real Madrid, Bayern Munich," the Germany international said.
"They are always big games and we know that. This is why we play in the Champions League because we always want to measure [ourselves] at the highest level and hopefully we can continue in the competition.
"It will be very difficult, but we will try our best to be on point and to win these two matches."
Both ter Stegen and Chelsea's Belgium international Thibaut Courtois have been in good form this season, but the Barcelona stopper said he did not like to watch other keepers.
"To be honest, I'm not looking at any goalkeepers, not any specific goalkeepers," he said.
"I've been asked before if I was watching Courtois. I said I'm not watching too much Premier League, so I'm not too focused on other goalkeepers.
"I'm trying to see highlights, which is the minimum I can do as we're playing every three to four days, but the focus needs to be on ourselves."
On Tuesday, ter Stegen will face attacking threats including Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Pedro.
"Of course I know [how they] play and what they do," he said when asked for his thoughts on Hazard.
"I mean, we are prepared when we go into the match, we are prepared and we see stuff people wouldn't think about, so I'm trying to be focused on what he [an opponent] is doing with his feet, with his body, and at the end you never know what he's going to do.
"Some people have a preference but I try to be balanced [with my preparation]."
