Arsenal set to appoint Dortmund's Sven Mislintat as chief scout - reports

Arsenal have all but completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat, according to reports in the German media.

Last week, sources told ESPN FC that Arsenal were in talks with Mislintat over taking over the role of chief scout at the Emirates Stadium, and Bild and kicker then confirmed at the weekend that an agreement between the two clubs has been reached.

Mislintat will join Arsenal this calendar year, with the Gunners paying a fee of between €1-2 million to Dortmund, where he is under contract until 2021. He will reportedly earn a yearly salary of €1.8m.

The 45-year-old, nicknamed "Diamond Eye" in Germany, has been credited with a number of Dortmund's successful signings in recent years, including Shinji Kagawa, Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raphael Guerreiro and Ousmane Dembele.

While there has yet to be an official announcement from either club, Dortmund did not deny the reports when rejecting rumours that sporting director Michael Zorc is set to follow Mislintat to the Emirates Stadium.

"Needless to say, this is at odds with the truth," Dortmund commented on the Zorc speculation, first reported by the Daily Mirror on Sunday, before failing to reject the Mislintat talk.

Earlier this summer, Bayern Munich ended an attempt to hire Mislintat as their new technical director.

Mislintat has also been linked with German clubs Fortuna Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover and Stuttgart during his spell of over 10 years at Dortmund.
