Clark with 26 leads Texas Southern past Jackson State 86-75
HOUSTON -- Donte Clark scored 26 points with nine rebounds and five assists and Texas Southern beat Jackson State 86-75 on Saturday night.
Demontrae Jefferson added 25 points and six assists for Texas Southern (7-17, 7-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Trayvon Reed scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Texas Southern trailed by as many as six points early in the first half, but a Clark 3-pointer evened it up at 28-all with 6:27 to play and TSU finished the period on a 12-6 run to lead 40-34 at the break.
TSU led throughout the second half and a 3-pointer by Jefferson helped push it to 67-54 with 9:54 left to play. Clark sank a jumper to post his team's biggest lead, 82-65, with 3:25 left.
Jeremiah Jefferson scored 25 points for Jackson State (10-15, 7-5) which has lost five of the last six games.
