Pacheco-Ortiz hits 7 3s, Liberty drops Charleston Southern

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz had a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead Liberty to a 70-53 win over Charleston Southern on Tuesday night.

Scottie James added 14 points and matched his career high with 15 rebounds and Caleb Homesley scored 11, all in the second half, as the Flames (10-5, 1-1 Big South) pulled away. Pacheco-Ortiz was 7 of 8 behind the arc and missed his only shot inside.

Liberty, which led 30-25 at the half, scored 11 straight, to go up 49-37 midway through the second half. Homesley had a 3-point play, a 3-pointer and a dunk and Pacheco-Ortiz drilled a 3-pointer.

The Buccaneers (6-7, 1-1) struggled to mount a challenge, shooting just 32 percent in the second half and 31 percent for the game (16 of 52). Jamaal David led with 11 points.
