Juiston, McCoy lead UNLV past San Diego St 88-78
LAS VEGAS -- Shakur Juiston and Brandon McCoy combined for 42 points on 19-of-25 shooting and UNLV ended an 11-game losing streak against San Diego State with an 88-78 win on Saturday night.
Jordan Johnson added 17 points and Jovan Mooring had 12 for the Runnin' Rebels (15-6, 4-4 Mountain West), who lead the series 36-32.
The Aztecs (13-8, 4-5) had won seven straight at UNLV, the longest streak in Mountain West history for a team at a league rival's gym.
Jeremy Hensley led SDSU with a season-high 19 points and surpassed 1,000 for his career. Malik Pope added 14.
UNLV built an early 11-point lead but the Aztecs rallied to tie the game at 38 at halftime.
SDSU only led once in the second half and trailed by 11 with 5 1/2 minutes to go before a 9-0 run on 3s by Pope, Devin Watson and Max Montana in a minute. UNLV responded with six points and SDSU missed its last four shots with two turnovers.
