UMBC cruises in final home opener, 93-62, in RAC Arena

BALTIMORE -- Max Curran scored a career-high 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Maryland-Baltimore County over Central Pennsylvania 93-62 on Thursday night.

Arkel Lamar added 14 points, Ishmail Jabbie and Max Portmann had 11 each and Joe Sherburne 10 for the Retrievers (1-2), who won in what was their 46th and final home opener in the RAC Arena with a new event center under construction. Jourdan Grant dished nine assists.

Daylin Davis scored 14 points and Joel Zola 10 for the Knights, who are affiliated with the United State Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Retrievers shot 53 percent, including 11 of 27 from 3-point range, and outrebounded the Knights 46-27.

The Retrievers scored 18 straight points early in the opening half and remained comfortably ahead in double figures.
