Fresno State takes home the Valley trophy with the big 27-10 win over San Jose State

Drew Fellios and Forrest Conoly shed some light on Fresno State's victory as they spoil homecoming for San Jose State.


SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Ronnie Rivers ran for two early touchdowns and Fresno State never trailed on its way to a 27-10 win over San Jose State on Saturday night.

Rivers finished with 105 yards rushing on 19 carries for the Bulldogs (3-2, 2-0 Mountain West Conference). Marcus McMaryion threw for 136 yards and Jimmy Camacho kicked two field goals.

Rivers' two touchdown runs capped back-to-back drives late in the first quarter and Josh Hokit ran for another in the second to give the Bulldogs a 21-0 lead at the break.

San Jose State's Josh Love threw for a score late in the third to cut it to 21-7 but Camacho kicked a 38-yard field goal early in the fourth to make it 24-7. The Spartans (1-6, 0-3) answered with a field goal of their own and Camacho hit another from 50 yards to keep the Bulldogs on top 27-10 with 6:14 to play.

Love had for 97 yards passing for the Spartans.
