Williams 2 TD passes, Williford's pick-six carry Murray State past Indiana State, 30-28

MURRAY, Ky. -- — DJ Williams fired a 37-yard touchdown pass to Cole Rusk with eight minutes left to carry Murray State past Indiana State, 30-28 in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both schools Saturday night.

Plez Lawrence ran for three touchdowns for Indiana State, including runs of 29- and 31-yards in the second half.

Caldra Williford tackled Cade Chambers in the end zone for a safety to stake the Racers to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter and Chris Hill Jr. opened the second half with a 36-yard pick six.

Williams was 11 of 17 passing for 157 yards and two touchdowns for Murray State (2-2). Cortezz Jones carried 14 times for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Chambers was 15 of 27 for 159 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the winless Sycamores (0-4). Harry Van Dyne caught 10 passes for 122 yards and a late touchdown.
