Liberty's Hickson completes TD hat trick to seal win

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Frankie Hickson had 22 carries for 133 yards and three touchdowns and Liberty outpaced Idaho State 48-41 on Saturday.

Ty Flanagan's 51-yard TD run with 2:37 left in the third brought Idaho State within 34-31 before Peytton Pickett's 2-yard run capped a 13-play, 80-yard drive to extend the lead to 10. The Bengals narrowed the deficit to 41-34 with a 27-yard field goal by Campbell Sheidow with 97 seconds to play. But after Liberty recovered the onside kick, Hickson, on the next play, ran for a 47-yard score to make it 48-34.

For Liberty (4-3), Stephen Calvert threw for 362 yards, Antonio Gandy-Golden caught 10 passes for 142 yards and two scores and DJ Stubbs had eight catches for 108 yards.

Tanner Gueller threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns for Idaho State (4-3). Michael Dean had six catches for 210 yards and a score, Mitch Gueller added nine receptions for 125 yards and two scores and Flanagan had 12 carries for 136 yards.
