Marcus Childers connects with Chad Beebe for a 73-yard TD pass as the Huskies start to pull away in the second quarter.


BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Marcus Childers threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns and added 73 yards rushing and Northern Illinois beat Bowling Green 48-17 on Saturday.

Tommy Mister had 17 carries for 115 yards and a score, and Chad Beebe had six catches for 124 yards and a touchdown for Northern Illinois (5-2, 3-0 Mid-American Conference).

The Huskies scored on the opening drive, going 75 yards in eight plays capped by Mister's 30-yard run. Childers threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Shane Wimann to make it 14-0 with 3:33 left in the first quarter.

On the following drive, Bowling Green got on the board when James Morgan completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Quintin Morris with 38 seconds left in the first.

Childers threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Spencer Tears, and a 73-yarder to Beebe to make it 28-7 late in the second quarter.

Andrew Clair had 15 carries for 108 yards for Bowling Green (1-7, 1-3).
