Bethune-Cookman holds off Delaware State 85-78

DOVER, Del. -- Brandon Tabb sank five 3-pointers and had 26 points to help lead Bethune-Cookman to an 85-78 win over Delaware State on Saturday.

Isaiah Bailey added 23 points, going 14 for 15 from the free-throw line, Shawntrez Davis had 12 points and nine rebounds and Malik Maitland had 10 points for Bethune-Cookman (11-9, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). The Wildcats were 24 for 49 from the field and 28 of 34 from the line to match their best conference start in program history.

Leading 42-29 at the break, Bethune-Cookman had to scramble in the second half as Delaware State opened with a 19-5 run, getting a pair of free throws from Joseph Lewis to edge into its only lead, 48-47, with 13:29 to play.

Isaiah Bailey then drained a 3-pointer at the end to spark a 14-2 run and Bethune-Cookman never trailed again.

Delaware State (2-19, 0-6) got 22 points from Marquis Collins and Simon Okolue had 16 points with seven rebounds.
