Potts, King lead Middle Tennessee comeback at FIU, 71-66 OT

MIAMI -- Giddy Potts scored a season-high 25 points, including four straight free throws in the last 10 seconds as Middle Tennessee defeated FIU 71-66 in overtime Thursday night.

Nick King added 17 points, seven in the OT, including two layups to give Middle Tennessee the lead. King also grabbed 10 rebounds for his third double double this season. David Simmons scored a career-high 14 off the bench and Brandon Walters 12 for the Blue Raiders (10-4, 2-0 Conference USA). Middle Tennessee overcame a first half shooting a season-worst 22 percent with six early turnovers that led to FIU points.

Trejon Jacob scored 16 points to lead FIU (7-8, 1-1), Brian Beard added 14 and Michael Douglas 12. Jacob made two of the Panthers' three 3-pointers.

The Panthers opened the second half 5-0, but Middle Tennessee found its shooting touch and came within a point after a 12-4 run. Potts missed a 3 at the end of regulation, tied 58-58, and FIU scored the first three points of overtime before Middle Tennessee rallied.
