UC Davis finishes strong to beat CSU Northridge 63-56

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Siler Schneider had 15 points and eight rebounds as UC Davis led throughout to beat Cal State Northridge 63-56 on Thursday night.

UC Davis (15-7, 6-2), which has won three straight, remained tied atop the Big West Conference standings with UC Santa Barbara (17-5, 6-2), which beat Hawaii 84-82 in overtime on Thursday.

CSU Northridge never led, but remained within striking distance until the Aggies finished the game on a 10-4 run.

Terrell Gomez drilled a 3-pointer to close to 53-52 with 3:38 left in the game. TJ Shorts II responded with two free throws to start the late run as the Matadors were held scoreless for over three minutes.

Chima Moneke had 14 points, Shorts added 11, scoring nine in the second half, and Joe Mooney chipped in 11 points.

Reggie Theus Jr. led CSU Northridge (5-17, 2-6) with 18 points. Tavrion Dawson added 10 points with 13 rebounds and Gomez chipped in 10 points with 10 rebounds.
