Kiernan hits 4 3s, scores 27 as Navy beats Lehigh 78-66

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- George Kiernan had a career-high 27 points, including four 3-pointers, and Shawn Anderson scored nine of his 11 points in the final six minutes to help Navy pull away late for a 78-66 win over Lehigh on Tuesday night.

Anderson scored seven straight points to give Navy (10-5, 1-1 Patriot League) a four-point lead and, after Kyle Leufroy's 3-pointer trimmed Lehigh's deficit to 65-64 with four minutes to go, the Midshipmen hit 8-of-8 free throws during a 13-0 run over the next three-plus minutes to seal it. Lehigh missed eight consecutive field-goal attempts and went scoreless for four-plus minutes after Leufroy's 3.

Hasan Abdullah had all of his 17 points, and Cam Davis scored 11 of his 14, in the second half for Navy. The Midshipmen, after shooting just 27 percent (9 of 33) in the first half, made 16 of 28 (57 percent) from the field and 12-of-13 free throws after halftime.

Jordan Cohen led Lehigh (6-7, 1-1) with 17 points. Leufroy added 13 points and nine rebounds.
