Colgate wins its 4th straight, posts 83-69 win over American

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Jordan Burns and Will Rayman combined to score 52 points and Colgate rode a 14-point, first-half lead to an 83-69 victory over American in a Patriot League contest Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders now have won four straight games for the second time this season.

Larry Motuzis gave American (5-16, 2-8) the lead midway through the first half with a layup that made it 20-19, but Jordan Swopshire drilled a 3 and Sean O'Brien hit back-to-back 3s and tacked on two free throws to put the Raiders (12-9. 7-3) on course to a 43-29 halftime advantage.

Burns hit 10 of 16 from the field, including 3 of 5 from deep, to finish with 27 points. Rayman was 10 of 14 from the floor, including 3 of 5 from distance, and grabbed seven boards to go with his 25 points. O'Brian added 14 points.

Sam Iorio and Sa'eed Nelson each scored 24 points to lead American.
