Floyd, Grandison's late FTs help Holy Cross beat American

WASHINGTON -- Jehyve Floyd had career highs with 22 points and six blocks and Jacob Grandison hit two free throws with 13.4 seconds left to help Holy Cross beat American 60-57 on Monday night.

Floyd shot 10 of 13 from the field. Caleb Green scored 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Grandison finished with five points, seven rebounds and five assists for Holy Cross (6-14, 3-6 Patriot League).

Jacob Grandison hit a 3-pointer with 3:04 to play to give Holy Cross a 57-55 lead and the teams combined to go 0 for 6 from the field from there. After American missed two clean looks from 3, Floyd made 1 of 2 free throws, but Larry Motuzis answered with two foul shots to trim the deficit to 58-57 with 1:42 left. Grandison's free throws capped the scoring.

Sam Iorio led American (5-15, 2-7) with 19 points and Motuzis added 17. Sa'eed Nelson had 11 points, eight assists and four of the Eagles' 13 steals.

Holy Cross overcame a season-high 19 turnovers by shooting a season-best 59.5 percent (22 of 37) from the field and outrebounding American 31-19. The Eagles came in averaging 29.6 rebounds per game.
