Hooker with career-high 23 leads Kennesaw St. to 81-74 win

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Tyler Hooker scored eight of his career-high 23 points in the final minutes as Kennesaw State held off Bethune-Cookman 81-74 on Saturday night for its second victory of the season.

Hooker, who made 11 of 18 free-throw attempts, had six free throws and a layup in the final four minutes to help secure Kennesaw State's victory to halt a six-game skid. He also had three assists, five steals and one block.

Nick Masterson added 14 points with five assists and Anthony Wilson chipped in 13 points with nine rebounds for Kennesaw State.

The Owls, up 33-30 at the half, led throughout the second period but could never pull away from Bethune-Cookman.

Brandon Tabb completed a 4-point play that started the Wildcats on a 9-3 run to close to 63-61 with 6:18 remaining. The Owls made eight free throws to keep Bethune-Cookman at bay to lead 70-63 with 3:29 left.

Shawntrez Davis had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Bethune-Cookman (5-7).
