Thomas leads UMass-Lowell to an 88-64 romp past Maine
BANGOR, Maine -- Jahad Thomas scored 19 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished off six assists to help power the University of Massachusetts-Lowell to an 88-64 win over Maine in an America East Conference battle Wednesday night.
The red-shirt senior leads the team in scoring and rebounding (19.5 points, 7.7 rebounds) and his 80 assists also is a team high.
The River Hawks (9-13, 3-6) built a 14-point first-half lead, taking a 49-35 advantage into halftime, and led by as many as 29 points, 76-47.
Ryan Jones finished with 18 points and Matt Harris contributed 16 for the River Hawks.
Aaron Calixte scored 20 points to lead Maine (5-19, 2-7), and Andrew Fleming added another 12 points.
Maine now has lost six of its last seven games and have only a win at Binghamton and a victory at home over Albany in January.
