Montana wins 12th straight, 80-60 over Portland St

MISSOULA, Mont. -- Jamar Akoh grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 21 points for his second straight 20-point game and Montana overcame a slow start to win its 12th straight Big Sky Conference game, 80-60 over Portland State on Thursday night.

The 20-point loss is Portland State's largest of the season.

Michael Oguine scored 14 points with 10 boards, Sayeed Pridgett also had 14 points, and Ahmaad Rorie added 12 for the Grizzlies (19-5, 12-0), who scored 15 points off 13 Portland State turnovers and outscored the Vikings 48-20 in the paint.

The Vikings led 21-17 on Deante Strickland's 3, but Bobby Moorehead's 3 put the Grizzlies up for good, 24-21. Montana shot just 30.8 percent from the field in the first half but led 34-29 at halftime after scoring 17 free throws on 16 Portland State fouls.

Oguine's 3 to open the second half sparked a 14-3 run and the Grizzlies led by 23 with 2:24 to play.

Derek Brown scored 16 points for Portland State (14-10, 4-7), which shot 31.3 percent from the field.
