Marist survives 78-76 as Colgate 'winner' is waved off

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Tobias Sjoberg reached career bests of 14 points and nine rebounds and Marist not only survived a 19-point Colgate comeback 78-76 after an improbable half-court turnaround at the buzzer by Colgate that was waved off after review Wednesday night.

Marist was holding a 78-76 lead with six-tenths of a second remaining and was inbounding under its own basket. Sean O'Brien is credited with intercepting the inbounds pass, turning and launching the ball downcourt, where it swooshed through at the horn and brought the Colgate bench rushing out to swarm O'Brien. The apparent Colgate win evaporated after the officials huddled around two monitors for about five minutes before waving off the basket.

Brian Parker led the Red Foxes (2-7), who led 57-38 with 15:02 to play, with 16 points and Isaiah Lamb added 11. Marist shot 52 percent (27 of 52) and made 10 3-pointers but needed all of that and the official review at the end to survive 16 turnovers.

Will Rayman led Colgate (3-5) with 17 points, O'Brien finished with 13 as did Jack Ferguson, and Dana Batt added 10.
