Charleston holds off UNC Wilmington 80-76

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Nick Harris slammed home a dunk with a minute remaining to give Charleston enough cushion to hold off UNC Wilmington 80-76 on Thursday night.

Charleston led throughout the second period but could never shake free of the Seahawks as Ty Taylor II and Jaylen Fornes drilled consecutive 3-pointers to close to 73-71 with 1:32 remaining. Harris took a feed from Joe Chealey and dunked with 1:02 left. Jarrell Brantley, Marquise Pointer and Chealey made five free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win.

Chealey hit four from distance, making 5 of 9 from the floor, for 18 points, Brantley added 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists and Grant Riller also had 16 points and three assists. Harris added 10 points with eight rebounds for Charleston (13-6, 4-3 Colonial Athletic Association) which is 9-0 at home.

Taylor led UNC Wilmington (5-14, 2-5) with 23 points and Devontae Cacok added 20 with 13 rebounds.
