Marshall downs Ohio 99-96 in OT on Penava's career night

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Ajdin Penava set career highs with 33 points and 15 rebounds, C.J. Burks scored a career-high 31, and Marshall held off Ohio 99-96 in overtime on Saturday to win its fourth straight.

Burks hit two free throws, Penava made a layup and Marshall led 96-92 with 49 seconds left in OT. Kevin Mickle's one of two free throws cut it to 96-93, but Penava's free throw gave Marshall a three-point lead. Ohio closed to 98-96 on Teyvion Kirk's 3 with 17 seconds left, but Jon Elmore hit two free throws with 11 seconds to go and the Bobcats didn't get another shot.

Elmore scored 20 points with a career-high 10 rebounds and made all 10 of his free throws for the Thundering Herd (8-3), which made 27 free throws to the Bobcats' 14. Penava matched his career-best nine blocks.

Marshall led 46-37 halftime after holding the Bobcats to 38.5 percent shooting from the floor. Mickle's layup at the buzzer tied it at the end of regulation.

Jordan Dartis scored a career-high 27 points with seven 3s, Mickle had three steals and set career highs with 21 points and nine rebounds, and Kirk scored 18 for Ohio (5-5).
