Hot-shooting Dayton beats Duquesne 88-73

DAYTON, Ohio -- Josh Cunningham had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Dayton shot 83 percent from the field in the second half to beat Duquesne 88-73 on Wednesday night.

The Flyers' second-half shooting percentage was their second-best half in program history. On March 1, 1986, Dayton made 19 of 22 shots (86 percent) against Southern in the first half.

Dayton (11-12, 5-6 Atlantic 10) led 29-26 at the break and had an 18-3 run early in the second half on its way to outscoring Duquesne 59-47 in the period.

It was Cunningham's eighth double-double season. Darrell Davis added 20 points, Jordan Davis scored 18, including 4 of 5 makes from 3-point range, and Trey Landers scored 12.

Rene Castro-Caneddy had 21 points to lead the Dukes (15-10, 6-6). Tarin Smith added 14, Eric Williams Jr. scored 13 and Mike Lewis II 12.

Duquesne beat Dayton at home 70-62 on Dec. 30 in the conference opener for both teams.
