Peters has 21 as Nicholls thrashes Houston Baptist 94-67

THIBODAUX, La. -- Roddy Peters made 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and Tevon Saddler added 22 points as Nicholls overwhelmed Houston Baptist 94-67 on Saturday afternoon.

Nicholls (16-9, 10-2) has won eight of its last nine games to remain atop the Southland Conference standings. The Colonels will welcome Sam Houston State, one of three teams currently tied for second place, on Wednesday.

Peters was 9 of 13 from the floor. Lafayette Rutlege added 12 points, knocking down 4 of 9 from distance, and Jahvaughn Powell added 11 points with six assists and four steals. Kevin Johnson also chipped in 11 points.

The Colonels took the lead early in the first half and were up 44-37 at the break. They pushed their advantage to 70-48 midway in the second half and cruised to the win.

Ian DuBose led the Huskies (5-20, 1-11) with 15 points. Edward Hardt added 14 with six rebounds.
