Dynamo Kiev beat Maccabi Tel-Aviv thanks to Yarmolenko and Moraes

Goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aluisio Junior Moraes gave Dynamo Kiev a 2-0 Champions League victory over Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Group G.

Yarmolenko struck with just three minutes played and Junior Moraes found the net shortly after half-time to make it four points from two games for Dynamo.

Maccabi, beaten 4-0 by Chelsea a fortnight ago, lie bottom of the group without a point to their name.

The visitors took the lead with the first attack of the game, thanks to a defence-splitting diagonal pass from Derlis Gonzalez.

Yarmolenko controlled the ball on his chest, cut inside and calmly slotted past Maccabi keeper Predrag Rajkovic from 15 yards out.

Eran Zahavi had the ball in the net for Maccabi five minutes later but his celebrations were cut short by an offside flag.

Home striker Eden Ben Basat had two first-half chances to pull them level, both from superb, in-swinging crosses from full-back Ali Dasa, but twice he mistimed his header in front of goal.

At the other end the lively Gonzalez set up Junior Moraes, whose close-range shot was well saved by Rajkovic.

But after the break Dynamo doubled their lead with Gonzalez the creator again.

Yevhen Khacheridi's long ball found Gonzalez down the left, and the Brazilian jinked his way into the box before teeing up Junior Moraes to rifle the ball home.

Zahavi came close to pulling one back with a curling, 20-yard free-kick which flew just over the crossbar.

The striker also failed to connect with an acrobatic scissor-kick which would have capped a fine move.

Yarmolenko could have doubled his tally with 15 minutes remaining but Rajkovic kept his shot out.

Maccabi pushed for an equaliser late on but too often their final ball let them down as Dynamo held out for a comfortable victory.

They could have added a third in stoppage time but substitute Artem Kravets fired over.
