Turnovers help Stony Brook beat Fordham 28-6

NEW YORK -- Jordan Gowins ran for 160 yards and a score, Donald Liotine ran 75 yards for a touchdown and Stony Brook shut down Fordham's offense and capitalized on turnovers to win 28-6 on Saturday.

Jordan Scarbrough intercepted a pass on Fordham's third play of the game and returned it 25 yards for a score. Andrew Trent recovered a fumble on a kickoff and Gowins scored two plays later on a 9-yard run for a 21-0 halftime lead.

Stony Brook (2-1) forced four turnovers and had 482 total yards while holding Fordham to 238, including minus -7 yards rushing.

Joe Carbone, 10 of 22 for 145 yards passing, hit Nick Anderson on a 26-yard TD strike. Liotine scored on the opening play of the second half and gained 106 yards on seven carries.

Luke Medlock was 16 of 37 for 149 yards passing for Fordham (0-3), still searching for a win under new head coach Joe Conlin. Backup Tim DeMorat hit Corey Caddle for a 29-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
