New England Revolution outclass 10-man Montreal Impact in easy win

An early red card from Montreal's Saphir Taider set the tone as New England Revolution cruised to a 4-0 win at Gillette Stadium.
The New England Revolution saw off the 10-man Montreal Impact 4-0 on Friday night at Gillette Stadium for their third win of the Major League Soccer season.
New England went a man up in the 14th minute after Saphir Taider was shown straight red for a reckless challenge on Luis Caicedo, leaving Montreal to finish the match with 10 players.
And the Revs took advantage on 20 minutes when Teal Bunbury settled a Wilfried Zahibo ball over the top Montreal's defense, turned and fired past Evan Bush to make it 1-0.
That lead might have been doubled 11 minutes later when the referee -- after consulting the video assistant -- awarded the hosts a penalty after Jukka Raitala tripped Bunbury up in the area. However, Bush went low and to his right to keep out Diego Fagundez's spot kick.
The booking and video review led to eight minutes of first-half stoppage time, where New England found a second as the ball fell to Andrew Farrell on the right side of the penalty area and he smashed his half-volley in to give the Revs a 2-0 lead at the break.
Down a man and chasing an unlikely comeback, Montreal struggled to fashion any legitimate chances. Fagundez put any hopes of a rally to bed in the 71st minute, finishing off a New England counter-attack with a close-range finish assisted by substitute Kelyn Rowe.
Zahibo then made it four on the night for the hosts, ghosting in at the back post and volleying a Rowe corner past Bush to add further gloss to a convincing win that sees Brad Friedel's side temporarily leapfrog Atlanta United into third place in MLS' Eastern Conference.
