Inter Milan returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Empoli at the San Siro to move them up to fourth in the Serie A table.

Inter leapfrog Lazio, who face AC Milan on Monday, with the win, which came about through goals in each half from Eder and Antonio Candreva.

Empoli goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski prevented Inter from taking the lead in the 10th minute with a great save to deny a Rodrigo Palacio header from a Joao Mario free kick.

But the hosts managed to open the scoring just four minutes later through Eder, who slotted in from close range after being teed up by Palacio.

Stefano Pioli's side were two goals to the good nine minutes after the restart as Candreva volleyed home at the far post after Eder had sent in a cross.

Inter were able to see out the remainder of the game to claim their first victory since their seven-match winning streak in Serie A was brought to an end by Juventus last week.
