Morton record convincing win over Hibernian to dent their title hopes

Morton dented Hibernian's Ladbrokes Championship title hopes with a shock 3-0 win at Easter Road with goals from Thomas O'Ware, Denny Johnstone and Ross Forbes.The defeat left Hibernian eight points behind leaders Rangers while Morton moved up one place to fifth in the table, one point off the play-offs.Hibernian's Anthony Stokes headed into the side netting early on and the home side had a goal disallowed after 14 minutes as Jason Cummings was ruled offside when he squared for John McGinn to fire home.Hibernian could not make a series of openings count and after 36 minutes they paid the price as Morton took the lead against the run of play, O'Ware heading in from close range from a corner by Forbes.Cummings hit the bar early in the second half before Morton extended their lead when home goalkeeper Mark Oxley parried a Declan McManus cross and Johnstone finished from close range with 50 minutes gone.Morton made it 3-0 when Bobby Barr crossed from the left and Forbes shot in just after the hour and despite their best efforts Hibs could not find a reply.
