Lorient 0-2 AS Monaco

Monaco moved above Angers into second place in Ligue 1 thanks to a comfortable 2-0 win in Lorient.Angers' defeat in Nice on Friday night meant that Leonardo Jardim's men arrived in Brittany knowing that a maximum points haul would ensure they finished the 21st round behind only leaders Paris St Germain in the table and second-half goals from Thomas Lemar and Joao Moutinho made sure of the victory. It was the hosts who edged a largely uninspiring first half with Benjamin Jeannot proving a particular thorn in Monaco's side. The former Nancy striker went close to netting as early as the fourth minute but, after latching on to Walid Mesloub's delivery, he could only fire over under pressure from Andrea Raggi. The two players combined again just after the half-hour mark but this time Jeannot saw his volley gathered at the second attempt by Danijel Subasic.Despite creating the better of the chances, though, Lorient found themselves behind just after the restart when Lemar smashed an effort beyond Benjamin Lecomte and in off the crossbar which was awarded after just crossing the line.Five minutes later Monaco doubled their lead when Moutinho dispatched a trademark free-kick over the wall and beyond Lecomte. That took the wind from Lorient's sails and it was the principality side who went closest to grabbing the third goal of the game. Firstly Guido Carrillo saw his goalbound header pushed away by Lecomte before Mario Pasalic saw a weak effort saved following a strong run from Bernardo Silva.ends
