Prom season is well underway, allowing high school students to be creative with their "promposals."

For Jake Portella, a senior at Haddonfield Memorial High School in Haddonfield, New Jersey, his promposal vision included Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper as his wingman.

Portella told The Phantastic Sports Show on Fox 29 that he lives in the same neighborhood as Harper and walked to the Phillies star's home to enlist his help in asking his date, Guila, to prom.

"I didn't expect [Harper] to open the door in the first place," Portella said on the show.

According to Portella, at first, Harper asked for his email for planning purposes but ended up deciding to freelance the promposal on the spot.

"Jake wants to ask you to prom so I thought I'd help him out. ... So will you go to prom with him?" Harper asked.

Guila confirmed she would go to prom with Portella with an excited "yes," followed by some admiration for Harper's playing ability.

"Oh my God, you're the GOAT," Guila told Harper as she hugged him before hugging Portella.

Portella's high school prom is set for June 14, the same day Harper and the Phillies start a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
