There have been a number of stellar Royal Rumble matches throughout WWE history, but the 2007 Royal Rumble stands out as one of the best.

Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker are two of the most recognizable and accomplished superstars to ever lace up a pair of boots. Their WWE careers have been lengthy and historic. Throughout their tenures, they've crossed paths quite a bit creating compelling moments and matches and their particular confrontation as the final two competitors in the 2007 Royal Rumble produced magic. That magic not only made this particular match special, but it foreshadowed future significant moments between the two.

As we approached the conclusion, Michaels, who entered the Royal Rumble match at No. 23, cleared out Randy Orton and Edge in succession leaving just him, a bloody 30th entrant in The Undertaker and a raucous crowd watching the extraordinary affair. This encounter felt like its own match full of close calls and stiff shots. Plus, it lasted about 10 minutes, which is a rarity by the time the Royal Rumble match is whittled down to its final two combatants.

The goose bump-inducing chemistry that Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker possess is also a rarity. That chemistry carried out one of the most "edge of your seat"-type endings ever seen in a Royal Rumble match, culminating with Michaels' elimination.

JBL, on commentary for the match, said it best: "How many times do you get a chance to see two legends, two cornerstones of this company, go at it when everything possible is on the line?"

Luckily for us, the uncommon chemistry on display during those outstanding final 10 minutes served as an introduction to upcoming momentous battles between them, including two of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time, one of which was Shawn Michaels' final match three years later.
