Maya Moore's UMMC Ekaterinburg wins EuroLeague Final Four

Maya Moore has made a habit of winning championships, and she added another Sunday. Moore's UMMC Ekaterinburg team beat Sopron 72-53 to win the EuroLeague Final Four women's basketball title in Sopron, Hungary.

Moore, the 2014 WNBA MVP with the Minnesota Lynx, had 17 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists in the title game. Leading the way for UMMC Ekaterinburg of Russia was Washington Mystics forward Emma Meesseman with 19 points and nine rebounds; she was named the event's MVP.

Also contributing for UMMC Ekaterinburg were Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner with 16 points and nine rebounds, and Mystics guard Kristi Toliver with four points and seven assists. Griner's Mercury teammate, Yvonne Turner, led Sopron with 21 points.

Moore, Griner, Toliver and Turner will be playing this season in the WNBA, which has its opening weekend May 18-20. Meesseman, however, is sitting out this WNBA season as she prepares to play for Belgium in this fall's FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.

Moore, who helped lead the Lynx to their fourth WNBA title last year, also won two NCAA championships with UConn, and gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and the 2010 and 2014 FIBA World Championships (now known as the World Cup.) Moore also has won championships in three seasons in China, and one in Spain.

Dynamo Kursk of Russia, last year's EuroLeague women's champion, won Sunday's third-place game 87-82 over Yakin Dogu Universitesi of Turkey. Dynamo Kursk was led by former WNBA player Sonja Petrovic with 24 points, while Los Angeles Sparks 2018 first-round draft pick Maria Vadeeva had 16 points, and Sparks star Nneka Ogwumike had 12 points.
