UFC's Leon Edwards: My career record proves I'm better than Darren Till

UFC, MMA

UFC's Leon Edwards believes he would beat fellow British welterweight Darren Till and claims he has the better record of the two fighters.

Edwards is scheduled to fight Peter Sobotta on March 17 at London's UFC Fight Night card, but the 26-year-old is eyeing bigger tests towards the end of the year including a match-up against Till.

"Realistically, after this [fight against Sobotta] I'll be on a five-fight win streak, pushing for a top-10 guy," Edwards exclusively told ESPN. "He's [Till] in the top 10 as well so if they come to me with that fight it's something I'll be interested in, 100 percent.

"I've beaten way better guys than he has, so that fight is definitely there for me as well. We'll have to wait and see for that.

"There are a lot of things we haven't seen from Darren. I'll have to properly watch him but from what I've seen, I know I can beat him."

Edwards is currently ranked No. 15 in the UFC's rankings while Till is positioned at No. 7.

Aside from an all-British bout against Till, the Jamaican-born welterweight is eyeing a potential fight in the U.S. towards the end of the year.

"Whoever is in the top 10, that will be my next opponent," Edwards added. "I will have to go to the States to get one of those guys to fight me as they won't come to the UK or Europe to fight me.

"After this, I'm going to the States to face one of them guys. I'd like to go there after this fight, I'd like to fight in Vegas.

"My goal for the end of the year is to fight someone in the top five but for my next fight it's someone in the top 10. But the end of this year my goal is to be cracking the top five and hovering around it."

Edwards last suffered defeat back in Dec. 2015 when he lost a unanimous decision to Kamara Usman.
