Tatjana Maria won the Mallorca Open after beating reigning champion Anastasija Sevastova 6-4, 7-5.

Sevastova, who was the tournament's No.3 seed, was appearing in her third final in three years after beating Germany's Julia Goerges in three sets last year.

However, she couldn't repeat her 2017 success and fell to Maria who remained in total control from the get-go.

Maria, who is the world No. 79, won 73 percent on her points on the first serve and also won four break points.

Her victory at the event puts her in goodstead heading into Wimbledon next month. She exited the competition at the second round in 2017.
