The 2017 New York City Marathon on November 5 will showcase two of America's most accomplished distance runners: Shalane Flanagan and Meb Keflezighi.

Both debuted at the 26.2-mile distance in New York -- Flanagan in 2010, when she placed second, and Keflezighi in 2002, when he placed ninth (he went on to win it in 2009). Both are four-time Olympians who have won silver medals at the Games -- Flanagan in 2008 in the 10,000 meters and Keflezighi in 2004 in the marathon. And both won the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials.

Their careers will coincide once again in November, alongside some other U.S. standouts who are preparing to make the trek from Staten Island to Central Park this fall. It will be Keflezighi's 26th and final marathon as a professional runner.
