United States international Geoff Cameron has joined Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan deal from fellow Championship side Stoke. Cameron, 33, has spent six seasons at Stoke but has been allowed to move to Loftus Road by new manager Gary Rowett, following Stoke's relegation from the Premier League last season. "I'm extremely excited and happy to be here," Cameon told QPR's website. "It's a fresh start and new beginning for me. "I decided over the summer that I wanted a change and something new. The boss here [Steve McClaren] has been interested in me before and I'm excited to play for him. "I'm the guy that does the dirty work. I'm not the flashiest of players. I try to read the game and get the ball to the guys that can score the goals." McClaren said he was "delighted" to bring Cameron, who can operate in either defence or midfield, to London. "It's not just about his versatility -- Geoff has fantastic experience and has spent the last few years playing regularly in the Premier League," McClaren said. Cameron joined Stoke just prior to the 2012-13 campaign, and has gone on to make 186 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. He began his professional career with Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo, making 124 league and playoff appearances, scoring 11 goals. At international level, Cameron made 55 appearances for the U.S., scoring four goals as well as playing in the 2014 World Cup. He was heavily involved in the 2018 cycle in which the U.S. failed to qualify, but fell out of favor with then manager Bruce Arena towards the latter stages of the campaign. Earlier this year, Cameron also blamed U.S. Soccer for creating a "poisonous divide" between MLS and European-based players.
