Uganda head coach Sebastien Desabre has taken credit for attacking midfielder Farouk Miya's two-goal showing for the Cranes as they dispatched Lesotho 2-0 in Tuesday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The wonderkid scored in Uganda's 3-0 victory over the Crocodiles in matchday three, and followed that up with a double as Uganda moved to top spot in Group L on 10 points.

"I have better motivated Miya to get goals," Desabre told KweséESPN. "He is a good attacking midfielder, but his confidence levels have been very low and this affected the scoring.

"I decided that Miya is a fantastic player who needs to be improved and spoken to more.

"We made sure he practices shots a lot from outside the box, and you can see how active he was with those shots."

The wonderkid secured a moved to Belgium's Standard Liege - initially on loan - in 2016, but moved onto Croatia's Gorica earlier this year after failing to impress in the Jupiler League.

"Miya is also getting better because he is playing every week with his new club Gorica in Croatia," Desabre added. "His previous clubs were not giving him enough time to play, and this affected his confidence levels that I am trying to work on now."

Miya scored the only goal of the game as Uganda defeated the Comoros to end their 39-year wait to reach the Africa Cup of Nations when they qualified for the 2017 event.

Behind Uganda, with two games to go, Tanzania are second in their group on five points, with Cape Verde third on four.

Lesotho are bottom with two points.
