Udinese have appointed Julio Velazquez as their new manager, the club announced on Thursday.

The Spaniard, 36, spent the past two seasons at second-division side Alcorcon and will assume coaching duties on July 1

Udinese sacked former boss Massimo Oddo in April. Igor Tudor took over as interim manager until the end of the season.

A club statement read: "Udinese make official the signing of coach Julio Velazquez Santiago with effect from July 1 to lead the first team.

"Tomorrow at 12.00 [local time] at the Dacia Arena there will be a press conference to present the new coach.

"The club thanks Igor Tudor and Mark Iuliano for their work in the final phase of the 2017-18 season and wishes them the best for the future."
