France and Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has pleaded guilty to a charge of drunk driving.
Lloris admitted being more than twice over the drink-drive limit when his car was stopped by police in London last month.
The 31-year-old, who admitted the charge at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, has been fined £50,000 and given a 20-month driving ban.
The court was told that Lloris had been stopped by officers in Marylebone, central London, on Aug. 24.
He provided a sample containing 80 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, with the legal limit in England and Wales being 35 microgrammes.
Henry Fitch, prosecuting, said Lloris had been driving at 15 miles per hour in a 30mph zone and veered "towards parked vehicles" before adjusting his course, also going through a red light. Police officers found vomit in the car.
The court heard that the goalkeeper had been out at a restaurant that evening, where he had been bought drinks by other customers.
David Sonn, defending, said the incident represented a "spectacular fall from grace" for the World Cup winner, who was not part of the Spurs squad for the loss at Watford earlier this month.
"On July 15 [when France won the World Cup] he was arguably the proudest man on the planet," Sonn said. "Just 40 days later, he was arrested.
"He experienced the indignity of being handcuffed and put in a police station overnight. The spectacular fall from grace is not lost on Mr. Lloris."
Earlier this week, Lloris told RMC: "Just like every man, I have a private life. I made a mistake, I have to accept it."
