Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund in Divock Origi transfer talks - sources

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are in talks over a deal for striker Divock Origi, sources have told ESPN FC.

Origi has yet to feature in the matchday squad for either of Liverpool's first two Premier League games this season, and Dortmund are in the market for a new forward before the European transfer window closes on Aug. 31.

Liverpool, who sent Origi on loan to Wolfsburg last season, would prefer to sell him this summer, but Dortmund would ideally want to take Origi on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Dortmund have switched their attentions to Origi after seeing a potential move for Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer fall through and failing to take Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea for a second season.

Liverpool value Origi at €30 million (£27m), but Dortmund are hopeful they can reach a compromise because he is unlikely to figure in manager Jurgen Klopp's plans going forward.

Origi, 23, joined Liverpool in 2014 from Lille. Capped 25 times by Belgium, he scored seven goals in 36 appearances for Wolfsburg last season.
